The Hare Cottage - Self-catering in Cheshire
High Street, Farndon, CH3 6PU, Cheshire
England,
Reino Unido
Come for lovely walks, the river Dee, a fascinating bridge packed with history and this sweet little cottage at the back of the pub to return to. The sitting room is small but charming with a double sofa, two armchairs, a wood-burning stove, TV and books - perfect for rainy days, or you can go and sit in the pub if you prefer. The kitchen has all you need to cook for yourselves or you can wander across the car park for brunch on weekends or a daily changing menu of lunches and suppers made with local produce.
Two bedrooms are up a steep staircase (not set up for those with wobbles or toddlers) and each have their own modern bathrooms - this is perfect for two couples wanting to explore the area or set off on beautiful walks - you'll find maps in the cottage.
Use the pub outdoor tables and chairs on sunny days, treat yourselves to a pint of something local after a hearty day out while you leaf through the menu or saunter back to your own kitchen.

Local points of interest from Alistair Logan:

Alistair Logan:
- Farndon is a quaint, country Cheshire village. Explore the quirky local shops, cross the Historic Holt bridge over the river Dee, visit the 17th century church or sit in the local pub (we know a good one) and watch the world go by at village speed.
- The sandstone trail is our most notable walking route, but there are plenty of beautiful areas to explore nearby. Not least of which we have a set of circular walks leading from the pub itself! Pub to pub, it doesn't get better than that.
- Chester city is a wonderous blend of Roman history and an urban shopping experience so the choice is yours. You could tour the ancient city walls in a pair of to-die-for heels!
- Bolesworth castle is the site of some of the most prestigious events in the North West. 'Car fest' is an annual feature and the international horse show is a world renowned event!
- Chester zoo is world recognised for i's conservation efforts, and if you're new to the area it's one not to be missed!
- Thomas Telford's incredible aqueduct is a 200 year old engineering marvel. It's a premier tourist hotspot for North Wales for good reason. The crossing itself is stunning but the view from atop a horse drawn canal barge is hard to beat.
