5 & 6 Porth Farm Cottages - Self-catering in Cornwall
Mawgan Porth, Newquay, TR8 4BP, Cornwall
England,
Reino Unido
The beach is a 7-minute stroll, the cliff path crosses National Trust coastline, the quiet village has a surf school, shop and fish ‘n’ chips: all the ingredients for a terrific seaside holiday. The cottages are part of a horseshoe of converted farm buildings with communal gardens all tucked into a hillside with views over the Vale of Lanherne and out to sea.
Underfloor heating will keep you warm and there are roaring fires in the open-plan living rooms. Soak in a roll top bath; blast away sand under a huge shower head. Cook in sunny kitchens that catch the morning sun and, if you take both cottages, there's plenty of room for 10 at the table.
Outside: watch the sunset over the bay with an evening drink and gaze up at the ‘living roof’ of flowers. It’s a short drive to the Eden Project or St Ives, but mostly you can leave the car behind. The coastal path stretches to Newquay, Watergate Bay and Padstow (good bus service, too) and there’s a friendly outdoor cafe with ducks and geese down the valley on your way to the ancient village of St Mawgan - a 40-minute walk through woodland and fields.
