An attractive converted stable with covered veranda, private garden and views over rolling countryside, minutes from the coast

The cottage has a light and airy feel inside with lofty ceilings (high enough to support an upended boat) exposed beams and oak floors. There is plenty of space to stretch out on comfy seating and a log burner to keep you cosy - children will adore bounding up to the mezzanine space above the kitchen where they'll feel private.

Two light-filled and very comfortable bedrooms on the ground floor (both can be a twins) have stunning views and sliding doors to the sheltered terrace and garden. Mostly you'll be out here, with the barbecue or pizza oven lit, table and chairs ready for long light evenings, as well as a rattan sofa while the children play safely in the enclosed garden and you open a bottle of something delicious. In the good-sized kitchen you'll find local fudge and fresh flowers.

You can walk across the golf course to Polzeath and the beach in 25 minutes, so pack up a picnic and head off for dreamy days.

Local points of interest from Amanda Woodward:

Puntos de interés sobre la región de
Amanda Woodward:

  • Head into Rock, where you can catch a regular ferry across the river to Padstow and its visitor attractions such as the harbour, the Camel River Trail, its famous restaurants and the National Lobster Hatchery.
  • Polzeath is divided into two parts – the old and the new. Two hills, one to the north called Pentire Head, and one to the west, Highcliffe, overlook the wide stretch of beach below.
  • The South West Coast Path passes through the village from beyond Pentire Point in the north and onto Daymer Bay and Rock as it follows the course of the Camel River.
  • There are three places to eat and drink in the village: The Oystercatcher, The Waterfront and The Sandbar.
  • Less than a mile away and over the hill to the south is Daymer Bay, which offers a large river beach with rock pools and a huge swathe of sand. Climb to the top of Brea Hill for enhanced, wide-reaching views across the estuary and out to sea.
  • Polzeath is within driving distance of the idyllic Port Isaac, which is a traditional Cornish fishing village with a harbour and narrow streets lined with old cottages. Beloved of TV addicts, the village is used as a chief location in the series Doc Martin.
