Endymion House - Self-catering in Cumbria
Underskiddaw, Keswick, CA12 4PZ, Cumbria
England,
Reino Unido
You'll feel delighted pitching up at this gorgeous Art Deco house with long views over the fells that make you go 'wow'. Arrive to bubbles in the fridge and posh crisps to nibble on as you decide which room to bagsy. All six are big, colourful, attractive and have their own style and personality: choose the one with a freestanding tub or the one with a balcony.
Groups have heaps of space to spend precious time together as well as hiding away for a bit of quiet contemplation. The fabulous kitchen calls out for cooks to don aprons and create feasts, there's a snug and garden room to retreat to, a long dining table for late night dinners, and a sunny living room. Otherwise just keep gazing at those views.
If you fancy a night off cooking, walk two minutes to smart Lyzzick Hall for a slap up meal, then return for nightcaps on the terrace. This is the perfect launchpad for all things outdoorsy: hiking, biking, swimming, watersports.

Local points of interest from Victoria Sowerby:
Puntos de interés sobre la región de
Victoria Sowerby:
- There are a host of fell walks right from the door of the house, from an easy evening stroll along the lane to Latrigg to the mighty Skiddaw, the third highest fell in the Lake District, which looms behind the house.
- Lake swimming is enormous fun at any time of year and Endymion House is close to both Bassenthwaite and Derwentwater. You can find your own spot or alternatively our neighbour and local guide runs wild swim tours finishing with a beach barbecue.
- If swimming isn't your thing, you can hire a boat or kayak to explore Derwentwater - take a picnic to one of the uninhabited islands and be your own Swallows and Amazons.
- The house is 2 miles from the small market town of Keswick with its abundance of shops, cafes and twice weekly bustling market, not forgetting our favourite local attraction - the small but fascinating Cumberland Pencil Museum.
- Did you know that Cumbria is spearheading a foodie revolution and now boasts more Michelin stars than any other county? There are four restaurants with a star within easy reach of Endymion House.
- Just a mile down the road, Mirehouse and Garden is worth a visit. The house is steeped in local history and was a frequent haunt of many of the Lake Poets. Walk through the gardens to the beautiful 10th Century St Bega's Church on the lake shore.
