Emma and Tim's Cottage - Self-catering in Devon
7 Coastguard Cottages, East Prawle, TQ7 2BX, Devon
England,
Reino Unido
Twist and turn your way to the edge of the world and Devon's most southerly cottages perched on the cliffs, their gardens tumbling down to the South West Coast Path and beyond to the sea. Walk to hidden coves in either direction while watching out for cirl buntings, peregrines and dolphins; pack a picnic for breakfast on the rocks after a dip in the briny; head up to the quirky village where locals and visitors converge at the famous Pig's Nose Inn for live music and fun.
Step into the terraced garden with a good book, glass of Prawle Point Gin and a pair of binoculars, flopping onto a sun lounger to gaze at the sea all day - or a panoply of stars all night. Inside is just as pleasing: no nautical nick-nacks here - the owners love beautiful things, and have filled the cottage with a collection of treasures.
A wood-burner in the dining room and an open fire in the sitting room will make wild weather days worth staying in for.

Local points of interest from Sarah Bolton:
Puntos de interés sobre la región de
Sarah Bolton:
- The Pig’s Nose Inn - Just go there! Lively, eccentric and sometimes simply a place to just sit and be cosy by the fire, the pub is a one off - the antithesis of a smart gastro pub.
- Piglet Café and Piglet Stores - The little café on the green opens from about Easter until the end of October and serves good breakfasts, cakes, lunches and cream teas. Occasionally open in the evenings too as the Piglet Bistro (bookings essential).
- Salcombe - Walk to East Portlemouth from the cottage (1 hour) and then catch a ferry or drive for 10 minutes, park in the village and walk down the steps. A very pretty town beloved by yachties and Range Rover drivers.
- Gara Rock - actually quite a chi chi hotel with restaurant and bar for non-residents and an outdoor terrace which is the perfect sundowner spot. And all above one of the loveliest beaches around - Rickham Sands or simply Gara as it's known to most.
- Maceley Cove - A 15 minute walk along the coast path is a little bit of the Med in the South Hams with gorgeous, turquoise waters and a sheltered, sandy cove. A picnic is a must and it’s a good spot for breakfast before anyone else arrives.
- Overbeck’s On the Salcombe side. Catch the ferry across and walk past North and South Sands to this wonderful NT garden with sub-tropical planting set high on the cliffs on the way to Bolt Head.
