Wildflower Cottage - Self-catering in Devon
Manor Farm, Broadhempston, Totnes, TQ9 6BD, Devon
England,
Reino Unido
Down the hugger-mugger village street keeping a watch out for friendly locals then a tight turn takes you into what was the farmyard. Stone outdoor steps lead up to the former hayloft, now a neat-as-a-pin, south-facing bolthole with an open-plan living room and kitchen. The downstairs bedroom is sumptuous with a roll top bath and rainforest shower. Charlotte leaves you locally-grown goodies for breakfast and some of their homemade apple juice or cider.
Sit at a tiny bistro table on the sunny top step overlooking the flower-filled yard, or leave the stable door open for a sun-drenched supper at your dining table. Wander to two pubs and an award-winning shop which sells organic food and also has a café with homemade cakes.
Suggestions and some maps for local walks are waiting for you, including some lovely ones along the river Dart. Totnes is a 15-minute drive for independent clothes shops and a food market on Fridays and Saturdays.

Local points of interest from Charlotte Parton:
Puntos de interés sobre la región de
Charlotte Parton:
- Wildflower Cottage is nestled in the courtyard of an ancient manor house, built originally in the 14C and added to in the Georgian eras. The farm is on 7 acres and sheep still graze under the old apple orchards which provide us with our cider & juice.
- The cottage basks in the afternoon sun which streams through your open stable door in the evenings. Inside it is decorated with original artworks (wildflowers of course!) and you can enjoy pretty vases of freshly cut wildflowers from our meadow.
- Wildflower cottage is finished to a very high spec from its Loaf sofa and Danish woodburner, super comfy Feather & Black bed with sumptuous bedding to its big bath and rainforest shower, all set off with elegant fittings by Lefroy Brooks and Jim Lawrence.
- Fabulous English countryside hiking is minutes from your door. A short drive away, walk in ancient woodland along the beautiful River Dart at Dartington Hall. Or a bit further on is Dartmoor, offering a stunning array of scenery in its 365 sq miles!
- The nearest pub is a 2 minute stroll away and as well as great food, a roaring fire and cosy traditional setting, has an interesting name The Coppa Dolla - nothing to do with money but an old Devonian abbreviation of The Coppiced Alder (tree)!
- Within 45 minutes drive you can be enjoying the stunning coastline -sailing from Salcombe, beach-combing on beautiful Blackpool Sands or striding out on the amazing South Coast path. Enjoy great seafood & locally made wine. Dogs welcome in most pubs!
