A light and airy barn conversion, very comfortable and rural, sitting on a hill with views to the south overlooking the Stour valley

You enter into an open-plan sitting/dining room and kitchen with a high vaulted ceiling – a light and spacious room with leather sofas, a wood-burner and plenty of books and games for rainy days. Views soar from French doors opening onto the south-facing garden. A large TV has all its bells and whistles if you want to watch a film. Mostly you'll be outdoors enjoying the beautiful countryside around you – a handy boot room is useful for drying wet kit.

The kitchen is sleek and well-equipped and you're left one or two basics for cooking along with a loaf of bread and some eggs. Bedrooms (one with the view, the other looking over the car park) are both a good size with crisp cotton sheets. Outdoors is a terrace, with lighting at night, a table and chairs and a small barbecue. You can wander the 40 acres of grounds (you'll find a map) including a small lake.

A 20-minute walk over fields will take you to Child Okeford.

Situated between two Iron Age Hill forts Hambledon and Hod Hill, the walking round our barn is wonderful and the views breathtaking.
The Dorset Jurassic coast is less than an hour away, easy for a day trip. From Swanage to Weymouth - lots to do and see - Nothe Fort, Swanage, Corfe Castle.
Fun things to do for children include Monkey World, the Tank Museum at Bovington, and many National Trust properties and gardens.
