Fresh sea air, drowsy afternoons and nights of warmth and company against the backdrop of the sea in this big old house on Lyme Bay

Read guest comments

A bright, airy, Arts & Crafts house just made for seaside socialising.  The kitchen with its long table is grand for gathering over morning coffee or cooking for a crowd with a bottle or two. Keen foodies will be up with the lark and off to the harbour to bag the freshest catch but the star of the show will still be the mesmerising views through the bay window.

Swim from the shingled beach below you or a sandy one a few hundred yards along, there’s a water sports centre a stroll away for sailing and paddle boarding, or you can shell out for a deep-sea fishing trip. The less lively can idle on the sofa with a book or simply gaze out of the mullion windows.

You’ll be warmed through by the Aga in winter, and when the waves hurl themselves right over The Cobb it’s cosy to light the wood-burner, get out a board game and watch the weather drama unfurl from the inside. Drift off in fresh, big bedrooms to the murmur of shifting shingle.

"This house was on our "to visit list" for close to 20 years (we visit Lyme Regis once a year) and we finaly had the chance. Quite a few staircases but many young legs in our company. A wonderfull house, what a view. The sea, the people admiring the house, what privilege to stay here if only for a week. "

"We had the whole family down for a few days to rediscover the Lyme Regis of my childhood. The house is wonderful and eccentric. We loved it and will return. Right on the marine parade. Wonderful views from the front rooms."
