This barn conversion sits in the garden of Karin and James's house, which is also a B&B, but you're facing the other way so you shan't feel overlooked. The hamlet is very quiet, on top of a hill above Bourton-on-the-Water and enveloped by rolling hills overlooking the Windrush Valley. Walk straight in to an open-plan sitting room with exposed stone, comfy sofas, books, games and original art on the walls. The feel is one of warmth and light.

The kitchen gleams, has plenty of prep space, a convector hob and all the kit you need. Karin leaves stuff for your first breakfast, including her freshly baked bread and homemade marmalade. Up carpeted stairs is a super king (or twin) bed with Hungarian goose down duvet and pillows, fresh fabrics and good bedside lights.

You have a large lawn to yourselves (with oodles of daffs in spring) seating for al fresco meals and stars on clear nights with hardly any light pollution. Listen for owls, spot hedgehogs.
