A restful sanctuary on a very special farm in the food county of England, for those in need of nature, nurture, birdsong and inspiration

The Studio was built for Isabel's uncle, an artist, so it's all about the light. Large, high ceilings and windows encourage illumination in this big open-plan space during the day, which miraculously transforms to warm and cosy when it's dark. Working wooden shutters and underfloor heating keep things at simmer heat even on frosty days, the lighting is well thought-out (rare) and an eclectic book collection will intrigue bibliophiles.

The fireplace is in your bedroom so you can fall asleep under a Welsh blanket listening to the soporific shift of the odd log: French doors from here take you to the east facing garden - all yours, bordered by beech hedges with views over parkland and a fire bowl to make your quota of fresh air last as long as possible. Inside you'll find fresh flowers, bread from the baker down the road, eggs from Isabel's hens, veg from the garden in season.

Head out on walks, spot rare birds, unbend.

A stone's throw from your doorstep you will come across the jewel of Hungerton- the wildflower meadow. Bursting with colour and alive with birds and insects, it's the perfect spot for an afternoon of sunshine.
A 25 minute drive will get you to Rutland Water - the UK's largest resevoir (in the smallest county!). Cycle paths and walking routes encircle the water, sailing courses are available, and bird watchers will enjoy looking out for ospreys.
The nearby historic market towns of Oakham, Uppingham and Stamford are sure to charm and delight, and if you are feeling hungry why not take a short drive to Melton Mowbray to try one of their world-famous pork pies?
We are as sustainable as possible, using eggs, veg and flowers from our garden and offer eco friendly products for guests' use. as well as for cleaning the Studio. Heating and hot water comes from our biomass boiler that runs off wood pellets.
An area steeped in history, explore the outstanding local houses of Belton and Burghley, or visit the set of The Crown on a trip to Belvoir castle, its outstanding grounds, and boutique shops.
Foodies will enjoy the farmers' market in Oakham on the last Saturday of the month, or if you are looking for something more up-market then Nottingham's two michelin-starred Sat Bains will serve up a night to remember.
