Thatched Cottage - Self-catering in Norfolk

Twin 17th-century cottages have been sensitively renovated into one property with charmingly interconnected rooms, fresh flowers in the bedrooms, a thatched roof with eaves so low they come down to your shoulders, and a delightful enclosed back garden.
Stuart and Sarah have poured much passion and imagination into the eclectic interior, a mix of new, antiques from local auctions and upcycled furniture. Books are dotted around the house wherever there’s space, and children's games are squashed into cupboards; older kids will love the Xbox 360.
Find a welcome hamper of treats and all the basics for cooking in the kitchen. Spend long sunny days in the garden, either around the large table in the loggia, on the hammock strung between pear trees, or in the hot tub; wander to the village pub, The Kings Head, for local ales and pub food.

Local points of interest from Sarah Pattison:
Puntos de interés sobre la región de
Sarah Pattison:
- There are medieval villages, towns and churches to explore. We would recommend beautiful Bury St Edmunds - the ruins of the abbey & the Abbey Gardens; Clare, Lavenham and Long Melford; Norwich Cathedral, castle, 'The Lanes' pubs; and open gardens in summer
- The beautiful gardens are full of roses in summer; the hot tub is perfect for summer sunsets or crisp winter mornings. One of the local shops boasts 200 artisan gins - perfect for sunset wind downs. If you don't like gin, there's a whisky distillery nearby
- Thatched Cottage is close to the very beautiful medieval market town of Diss said to be Betjeman's favourite English town. You’ll find independent shops and cafes, an art centre (Corn Hall) and auction house (Gaze's). The area boasts lots of good pubs too
- We would recommend a trip to Wooster's bakery at the windmill in Bardwell where you'll find the most incredible hand made sourdoughs, focaccia, croissants and pastries but get there early!! 8am-3pm Wed-Fri 9am-1pm Sat. You can grab a coffee too.
- A trip to Wyken Hall is an absolute must. A country store, beautiful open garden, the best restaurant for miles, a café, woodland walk to the vineyard and a great weekly Saturday farmer's market (The Leaping Hare. Booking is essential for evening meals)
- The Suffolk & Norfolk coast is just an hour away. Visit the Tim Hunkin 'Under The Pier Show' in Southwold, crabbing at Walberswick, take a boat out on the lake at Thorpeness, chips on the beach at Aldeburgh or fossil hunting at West Runton & Happisburgh.
