Tall octagonal chimney stacks and a Georgian façade give the house a stately air. In fact, it's the friendliest of places to stay and Paris gives you a delicious, locally sourced breakfast including plenty of fresh fruit. The house, originally Tudor, is a delightful mix of old and new. Large light-filled bedrooms have loads of good books and views over the four-acre garden, a favourite haunt for local birds. Bergh Apton is a conservation village seven miles from Norwich and you are in the heart of it; perfect for cycling, boat trips on the Norfolk Broads and the twelve Wherryman’s Way circular walks.

- We are six miles South East of Norwich with two stunning cathedrals, a castle and the renowned Sainsbury Centre for visual arts with past exhibitions including Fabergé, Paul Nash and Giacometti.

- Strumpshaw Fen on the River Yare has guided walks or you can stroll along the reedbeds, woodlands and orchid-rich meadows. As well as birds, there are many butterflies, dragonflies and damselflies.

"This B & B is an absolute gem.
Paris and her family are wonderful hosts and go beyond excellence in their warmth and friendliness - this includes Tessie, their Norfolk Terrier!
There was everything that you needed in the room with lots of storage, television, radio, books....the bathroom was very, very spacious.
The breakfast is really good and there is tea and coffee to make in your room - the views from which are quiet, peaceful countryside. I felt I had been to a retreat for a couple of days! I can't wait to return.

"Our first visit to England from Moree NSW, Australia was definitely enhanced by our 10 days stay with Paris and Nigel at Washingford House. We cannot recommend this B&B more highly. We were greeted with warmth and friendship right form the first moment and immediately felt comfortable and at home. The house is beautiful and the grounds are stunning, the entire atmosphere is relaxing and refreshing. Having little Tessie greet us every time we came "home" was a heart warming ritual. Everything is fabulous, the house and gardens, the beds, the breakfast. We have been to many b and bs but this is top of our list. Great bike rides, local farm shop, not far from Norwich either. The surroundings, in lovely gardens and countryside, are delightful.
