You’ll feel nicely independent here: guest rooms are along one wing of this sleekly modern barn, and you have your own key and a small screened off patio. Milk, ice and lemons are left in a communal fridge, so relax with a cuppa when you get in (or G&T if you bring the wherewithal). Fruit, nibbles or home-baked surprises are left in your room too.
Breakfast is served in the large kitchen in the main part of the house, looking out over colourful gardens. Help yourself to muesli, yogurt and fruit first, then Vivienne cooks you a plateful of bacon, sausages, hash browns, eggs and vine tomatoes, and you can finish with croissants, toast and homemade jam. Perfect to set you up for a day of Broads-hopping.
It's a 15-minute walk along a footpath to The Ferry Inn, Stokesby, for good food and a beer garden on the waterfront. Return to sleep soundly in fresh-as-a-daisy rooms with greenery tumbling from shelves and snug armchairs.
