A timeless landscape of open moorland and far-reaching views from this substantial 19th-century stone house, of which you have the rear wing

The house is spacious, light and airy. All rooms feel fresh and contemporary in design with off-white walls, a few well-chosen antiques and no clutter. Interesting original paintings, mainly abstract, adorn the walls and there are books and a piano in the log-burner-warmed sitting room. Helpers can chop and chat at the big farmhouse table in the kitchen, or you can eat in style in the dining room.

The kitchen is big with a large range cooker and plenty of equipment for a happy cook and there's a spacious utility room off it with more storage and drying space - perfect for dogs as there's another door to the outside here. Bedrooms (one downstairs with its own wet room) are upstairs - cool, calm and relaxing with views to moorland from all. There are five gleaming bathrooms in total, two en suite.

Eat out on the small patio area or round the corner on a picnic bench by a wooded area - you'll only hear birds and the wind in the trees.

  • You're just a 20 minute drive from Kielder Observatory, located in Kielder Water & Forrest Park and under some of the darkest skies in Europe. Weekly events take place throughout the year, covering family astronomy to the very popular Aurora Nights.
  • Within just a few miles of Hexham there are a number of points of access to Hadrian’s Wall World Heritage Site including Roman forts and museums and the recently opened Sill. Stretching 73 miles Hadrian’s Wall offers stunning countryside and walks aplenty.
  • Hareshaw Linn is a delightful 3 mile walk from Bellingham. a 10 minute drive, taking you through the Hareshaw Burn to the linn (a local word for waterfall) itself. Home to red squirrels, great spotted woodpeckers, redstarts, dippers and badgers.
  • The North East’s best kept secret, the coast! Miles of wide, sweeping and virtually empty beaches from Berwick down to Tynemouth - a day out for walking , picnicking, visiting ancient castles, birdwatching, and (for hardier souls) swimming and surfing!
  • The Alnwick Garden, created by the Duchess of Northumberland, provides 12 acres of meandering & magnificent gardens including the world’s largest Tai Haku Cherry Orchard, a Grand Cascade comprising 120 water jets & the world’s largest Treehouse Restaurant.
  • A trip over the Border makes a worthwhile day out, with dramatic views from Carter Bar out over the Scottish Lowlands. In Jedburgh you can visit Mary Queen of Scots house, and further over into Liddesdale sits the atmospheric ruin of Hermitage Castle.
