Nature, garden and history lovers, walkers and lazers-about will be in their element here.
A very generous welcome hamper speaks of Sue’s thoughtfulness; with four children she knows what yours may need, and there are treats for dogs too. She also provides stacks of local information, including walking guides - a lovely bluebell walk starts from nearby Sedlescombe church. And it’s an easy stroll to the friendly pub for well-kept beer and seriously good food.
Take both the neat, well-designed conversions for a larger group and get together for summer barbecues. Take one and you won’t feel overlooked as the main windows look out from the ends with sweeping views and scope for deer and badger spotting. The sea is six and a half miles away (beach towels provided), Hastings seven, with quirky shops and eateries like the Thai Café at Boulevard Books.

Local points of interest from Sue Langer:
Puntos de interés sobre la región de
Sue Langer:
- Sedlescombe is attractive with a large sloping green and pretty timber and tile houses on either side. Our village geese are frequently seen pottering around and we have a post office for essentials. The Queens Head pub welcomes dogs.
- A trip to the beach in Hastings is a must! The Old Town has quirky shops and restaurants with 2 funiculars which climb the cliff and an impressive beach-launched fishing fleet. Along the Stade visit the Hastings Contemporary Art Gallery.
- Stand on the site of the battle that changed the course of England's history for ever - The Battle of Hastings. Explore the abbey ruins and the exhibition. There are re-enactments of the Battle - the next one is October 14th & 15th October 2023
- Rye (12 miles) is an ancient cinque port town of terracotta roofs, timber-framed houses and cobbled streets. The church tower is usually open and the view from the top over the roof-scape and the marshes beyond is spectacular.
- Great Dixter (15-minute drive) was the home of the late gardener and writer Christopher Lloyd. The house and garden are open to visitors and runs courses and lectures. You can buy plants and seeds from the nursery, and tools and garden sundries.
- Bodiam Castle (NT) is the most beautiful castle in the world, in my opinion! I walk my dog Pi along the river and sometimes into the grounds. The river Rother winds through the Rother Valley to Rye - take a boat trip from the Castle.
