The Cottage in the Garden - Self-catering in Sussex
Castle Hill, Rotherfield, Sussex
England,
Reino Unido
You arrive down a wooded lane reputed to be one of the oldest in England: gates open to the mansion house and garden with swathes of lawn and frothy flower beds; your lovely cottage-on-one-floor is perched high beside your own private terrace with views across the Weald to the South Downs. It really is the dearest space for lovers, with a hugely inviting bed, a wood-burning stove and a round table in the window for meals looking over the garden.
Owner Jackie, who lives in the big house, leaves you a cream tea on arrival day. The kitchen is well stocked with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, spices, teas and fresh coffee, homemade marmalade and jam. Glyndebourne picnics are also one of her specialities - she'll even send you off with chairs and a picnic table. Stride out to the village, Rotherfield, for pubs, café and village shop.
