A super stylish barn conversion with idyllic organic gardens to explore: five acres of woods, orchard, wildflower meadow and natural pond

You'll feel peaceful and cosseted in this airy, light space with oak floors, plenty of interesting books (Bloomsbury Group novels, Kipling poetry, books about Charleston) and a big wood-burner to keep things cosy. The living room/kitchen is open plan so nobody need feel lonely when cooking and there's everything you need to get started; you'll also find a welcome basket with homemade apple juice and jam, fresh local bread, eggs from their own hens - and milk and butter in the fridge.

Big glass doors bring the surrounding woodland in but there's much to explore and you can row on the natural pond, discover two great white cherry trees on the terrace near the house (spectacular in spring), visit the kitchen garden brimming with organic veg in season and stroll the orchard filled with apples, pears, quince, greengages and damsons. Wildlife abounds: hedgehogs, owls and many other birds to spot.

This area is renowned for its farmers' markets and vineyards, you're close to the South Downs for bracing or gentle walks and pretty Lewes is nearby. In summer you can light the fire pit and enjoy watching the sun go down by the pond.
