Quince Tree Cottage - Self-catering in Wiltshire
Alvediston, Salisbury, SP5 5LA, Wiltshire
England,
Reino Unido
Cranborne Chase AONB is a vast landscape of rippling chalk hills with ancient woods and is also a dark sky reserve. At its heart, a charming 18th-century cottage, tucked in the village of Alvediston in the Chalke Valley. It's next to the owners' cottage, but you have your own entrance, parking and gently wild garden.
Step in to find low beamed ceilings, logs stacked beside the wood-burner and a lovely sense of colour and texture with plenty of art, books and games. Find heaps of space to cook on the Aga in the farmhouse kitchen and dining room or relax in the sunny sitting room that opens onto the terrace and garden. The lawn is grand for tumbling children to let off steam.
Have lunch at Pythouse Kitchen Garden or dinner at the Beckford Arms in Tisbury. Walk or cycle for miles; Shaftesbury and Salisbury are both nearby. Return to sleep in sweet bedrooms with long country views.

Vicky Spendlove:
- The walking from this cottage is amazing with virtually no need to go on the road - though the lanes and valley road are not very busy either. Hills and views everywhere. Ancient tracks and drovers roads on both sides of the valley.
- We are 10 minutes from the wonderful Chalke Valley History Festival - a week of great talks and events including masses of activities for children.
- We are very well situated for visits to the historic city of Salisbury, ancient town of Wilton and the world heritage sites of Stonehenge and the city of Bath with its Roman baths and spa.
- We are about an hour's drive from the Dorset coast where you can walk the challenging coast path with its spectacular views or swim - the sea on a early autumn day it is the warmest of all the year.
