A lovely bolthole in remote North Yorkshire – follow stunning hill walks with a soak in the roll top bath, and a glass of bubbly

You are welcomed warmly with Yorkshire tea and homemade cake. It may have old stone walls, but inside the vaulted ceilings and mid-century furniture, not to mention the enormous bed and roll top bath, give this generous space the feel of a smart hotel.

Lorna and Chris, who live nearby, have put a lot of love into this low-impact conversion. A big dining table has plenty of room for board games and the kitchen has a welcome supply of cooking basics, as well as organic Prosecco and fresh milk in the fridge.

Off the bedroom, with its high ceiling and oak beams, the wet room has a walk-in rain shower. Explore the forests and valleys of the North Yorks Moors on foot from the door. Keen cyclists can take on the Windings, used for hill climbs during the Tour de Yorkshire. Swallows swoop on summer evenings as you sip something nice in the summerhouse.

Silpho is a quiet hamlet tucked away in the corner of the North York Moors National Park. Heather moorland, limestone grassland, streams and ancient woodland support a host of wildlife: Honey Buzzards, Barn Owls, Goshawks and Merlin.
Boggle Hole, our favourite hidden cove on Yorkshire's Heritage Coast, just 15 minutes' drive. Stroll along the beach or enjoy clifftop views on the Cleveland Way Path before exploring historic Robin Hoods Bay.
Our privileged location in the North York Moors National Park offers Dark Skies Status and an enchanting landscape of moors, forest, hidden valleys and coast. Walk, climb, cycle, surf or just drink in the views. RSPB Bempton is a must see.
Splendid stately homes with stunning gardens to explore. Scampston Hall with its award winning walled garden by Piet Oudolf. Sledmere House & Gardens, Burton Agnes Hall and Castle Howard are all within easy reach.
From world class cycling trails and Go Ape at Dalby Forest, whale-watching and Yorkshire Safaris with Yorkshire Coast Nature to paddle-boarding, surfing or North Yorkshire Park we have something to suit all levels of adventurer.
Yorkshire's Food Capital, Malton, is a great place to explore the finest produce our county has to offer. The North York Moors has a glorious natural larder with some of the finest culinary treats. Cosy country pubs, seafood galore and cake!
