An 18th-century whitewashed cottage, characterful and comfortable and with a large private garden, just minutes from the coast by car

There's a truly cosy feel indoors with a merry wood-burner, squishy sofa and armchairs, local art prints, deep windowsills with jugs of fresh flowers and plenty of books and games in case it rains. Cooks will be happy in the country kitchen with its softly painted wooden cupboards and a welcome hamper of fresh eggs, homemade wheaten loaf, scones with jam and clotted cream – what a welcome!

Two neat-as-a-pin bedrooms come in shades of sage green and cream with the softest blankets, good lighting and ample storage. Both have lovely views over the garden and they share a sparkling bathroom with a deluge shower over the bath. On sunny days you can spill out into wild woodland, lawns for sprawling or picnics, mature trees and shrubs bursting with birdsong.

Walk along footpaths, cycle quiet roads, visit Ireland's only UNESCO Heritage Site, the Giant's Causeway. Return to wonderful stargazing.

Puntos de interés sobre la región de
Neil & April Salisbury:

  • The Causeway Coast is stunning with its cliff top walks and beautiful sandy beaches. Our favourite beach is Dunseverick, just 15 minutes away by car, where the children enjoy picnics on the beach, and searching for crabs and swimming in the rock pools.
  • There is a never ending list of things to see and do: the Giant's Causeway, a UNESCO world heritage site, Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge where the brave hearted can cross a deep chasm to a rocky island and the Dark Hedges made famous by Games of Thrones.
  • Jump on a ferry to Rathlin Island and visit this haven for wildlife and seabirds. Puffins arrive in the spring but the island is perfect for nature lovers all year round with stunning wild flowers, dolphins and seals, and very distinctive golden hares.
  • Put on your hiking boots and discover the nine glens, including Glenariff the 'Queen of the Glens', with their lush forest parks and quaint fishing villages.
  • The Titanic Museum in Belfast is exceptional and well worth a visit. It stands on the site where the Titanic was built and really brings to life the story of the ship from her construction and launch, to her maiden voyage and subsequent place in history.
  • Enjoy freshly caught seafood and traditional Irish Music in the Bushmills Inn or O'Connor's Bar in Ballycastle.
