Such a stunning landscape will inspire walkers, nature lovers, artists, peace-seekers and anybody with a soul. Light pours in to the upstairs sitting room and an arched window shows off the views - this is a fabulous spot to unwind with a Loaf sofa, books and games, a record player and a log burner. Bring binoculars to spot much wildlife including red squirrels and deer, at night you'll hear owls hoot.
Wild swimmers will be up and in the river before breakfast, there are sublime walks through woodlands bursting with wild flowers in spring, the gamekeeper can organise fishing and shooting, mountain bikers will head for Galloway Forest Park, there are golf courses nearby.
The downstairs bedroom is pretty with hedgerow flowers, more lovely books and views, comforting robes and White Company sheets. There are two bathrooms and a swish kitchen which any cook will be happy to work in, although Laura can arrange a breakfast hamper.

- The Bothy sits at the heart of a working sheep farm. Take a picnic to the banks of the River Stinchar, wander out on to the hills or explore acres of woodland. Nearby Pinclanty Forest has many walking trails and small hill lochs.
- Not far away is the Galloway National Park with its internationally recognised Dark Sky status. Sit out in the evening wrapped in a blanket and watch the stars. They are dazzling.
- The Carrick coast has a number of large sandy beaches, take the dog for a long walk, or watch the sunset over Ailsa Craig.
- For golfers, there are the championship courses at Turnberry and Prestwick and local courses at Girvan and Stranraer.
- Bring your binoculars for there is an abundance of wildlife here between the woods, wetlands and hills. Listen out for cuckoos, owls and oyster catchers. You might spot otters, salmon or newts; and see hares, deer and red squirrels.
- Farther afield, there are castles, gardens, art galleries, adventure playgrounds and walking trails to be found.
