A thoughtful cottage, full of warmth and cheer with lovely art and delicious pops of colour. Come for beautiful walks and much wildlife

Lots of care has been poured into the renovation of this old stone building along with a healthy regard for sustainability. Zoë's clever eye for design makes it a pleasure to walk in. Find a good-sized sitting room with a wooden table under the window for gazing, softly painted panelled walls, oak floors, bright rugs and a little Everhot stove. Choose a good book and take it to the bright conservatory with rocking chair and garden views.

A pretty double bedroom and bunk room are on this floor, then up the steep stairs and through a hobbit door a light and airy twin with sloping ceilings, not for giants but inviting nonetheless. The charming bathroom is downstairs and has a big bath with shower over, perfect after a long walk.

Cooks will be delighted with the kitchen and its fun Bert & May tiles. A Grind coffee machine and Tunnocks tea cakes welcome you, everything ugly and modern is hidden away, all is pleasing to the eye.

Puntos de interés sobre la región de
Zoë Croucher:

  • Spot some deer in the morning mist, spy a red squirrel darting through the trees. See bats emerge from the eaves at dusk, and hear a tawny owl hoot in the night. Close your eyes and lose count of how many different birds you hear. All from the doorstep.
  • Loch Lomond is your oyster! And only moments away. Take a dip with the mountains as your backdrop, meander in a kayak along the shores, or take a speedboat tour of the islands and stop off for lunch at one on the way.
  • Mountains and hills abound, with the most fabulous views. Scotland's most southerly Munro, Ben Lomond is nearby - as well as the Trossachs and Arrochar Alps. There are many easier walks too. Soak in a piping hot bath and enjoy a dram when you get home.
  • Visit the Hill House in Helensburgh, explore the independent shops and enjoy an ice cream along the seafront. Take a wander through the pretty villages of Luss, Drymen, Balmaha or Killearn and grab a pub lunch while you're there. Maybe even a distillery...
  • The vibrant and wonderfully different cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh are only a 40 min and 1.5 hr drive away. World famous art collections, stunning architecture, impressive theatres, vast array of restaurants and exciting nightlife. Great for a day trip.
  • Dark skies are breathtaking to gaze up at from the outdoor bath!
