An eco renovation of an 1800s gamekeepers cottage, now a charming place for couples or families to immerse themselves in nature

Deep in the remote 600-acre Edwinsford Estate, in a woodland clearing gazing over the tree-filled Cothi Valley, find a cottage and a cosy Shepherd's Hut away from the daily hustle and bustle. The Cothi river is only a few paces away, you can fly fish here, and you're circled by miles of glorious forest and valley walks.

Inside, find Welsh slate underfoot, exposed stone walls and a sense of calm. Cook hearty meals in the cheery, well kitted out kitchen; read a good book in front of the wood-burner (with unlimited estate logs) and sleep deeply in comfortable bedrooms – one double, one twin and an extra double plus good shower in the hut. Stroll along the river to The Black Lion in Abergorlech.

The estate's conservation is carefully managed and it's teeming with wildlife: spot kingfishers, goshawks, kites, merlins and curlews, and shy otters living on the riverbank. You can wild swim on sunny days then barbecue on the terrace – you'll  feel utterly restored.

Puntos de interés sobre la región de
Sharon Pipe:

  • Cwm Cottage sits in the middle of the 600 acres that remain of the historic Edwinsford Estate, just yards from the gin clear water of the River Cothi, surrounded by the unspoilt river valley with miles of tracks on the doorstep providing beautiful walks.
  • Day and weekly tickets are available for salmon, sea trout and brown trout fishing on the private, double bank 5 miles of the beautiful River Cothi that flows through the estate.
  • Edwinsford is a working estate with a mix of field sports, farming and forestry. Our passion for conservation means you can see kingfishers, goshawks, merlins and curlew; otters playing by the river and clouds of butterflies and dragonflies above the ponds
  • A lovely local pub, The Black Lion at Abergorlech, is within walking distance at the far western end of the estate. You will also find the entrance to the 6500 hectares of Brechfa Forest here with many trails for walking, mountain biking and riding.
  • The National Trust properties of Dinefwr with Newton House, a ruined castle and nature reserve and Dolaucothi, the UK's only Roman gold mine are within a short drive. For gardeners, The National Botanic Gardens of Wales and Aberglasney Gardens are close by
  • The wonderful beaches of the Gower peninsula can be reached in 40 minutes. Laugharne, the home of Dylan Thomas with its lovely coastline and castle, are an hour away. The stunning beaches and coastal path of Pembrokeshire make for a great day out.
