Sweep down the driveway bursting with hydrangeas and day lilies to this gorgeous turreted château tucked in the hillside overlooking a verdant, tree-filled valley. Inside find oodles of space in all the guest rooms plus spoiling en suite bathrooms that are large enough for spa treatments and massages if you fancy, and much to do onsite: borrow a book from the library, relax in one of three salons, play tennis, splash in the pool, join 'an experience'.
Breakfast on overnight oats, fresh fruit from the orchards, honey buzzed in from hives in the garden, local breads and pastries, homemade jams and lashings of coffee to set you up for exploring the Dordogne's many delights. Expect vineyards to visit and truffles to hunt, charming towns including Périgueux and Bergerac, and restaurants, cafés and bars all within a few kilometres.
Or simply take a picnic down to the river, stroll through the woods, snooze in your lovely bedroom.
