A big old timber-framed house, restored in the 1920s in an Anglo-Landais style, with ancient farm buildings intact and rambling parkland

Come for a traditional farmhouse with unspoilt architecture deep in the unique countryside of the Landes - close to Biarritz, mountains and the wonderful beaches of the Atlantic. Bring everybody because there's an enormous amount of space with a vast, beamed sitting room, lofty dining room and a library packed with French books. Floors are wooden, windows are tall and the kitchen a pleasure to cook in with a central wooden table and basics for cooking in the cupboards. You'll find fresh eggs from the happy hens pottering outdoors.

Visit the herd of goats and you can buy the cheese made on the farm. The garden and parkland are filled with cork oaks and rhododendrons, just the ticket for hide and seek and there's a roomy above-ground pool. Bedrooms and bathrooms are unfussy and simple with antique furniture and lovely views.

Lakes and woodland nearby are full of wildlife for magical walks and swimming. You can bring your horse here too – there’s a box, stable and 5 acres of grazing.
