Le Sémaphore de Lervily - Self-catering lighthouse in Finistère

Loll on velvet sofas or wrap up warm on the patio; the ocean views surprise and delight you as you open the door. This former light-keeper’s cottage is a lovely retreat, with a kitchen fit for chefs and a panorama from every window.
Stroll into Esquibien for croissants and crepes; hop in the car to Audierne. This popular seaside port has a sailing school in summer and a market on Saturdays and Wednesdays. As for beaches, the Plage de Trescadec, safe for families, is five minutes down the coastal path, with sands, swims, and lifeguards in summer. St Tugen beach, set among wild protected sand dunes, is an hour’s walk but worth every step.
As darkness falls, light the fire pit outside. Or snuggle up on a sofa beneath the great glass roof on the landing and raise a glass to the stars.

Jean-Yves Huitric:
- You're a few mins drive away from one of Brittany's most famous landmarks, the Pointe du Raz, a rocky outcrop with steep and jagged 70m cliffs. This is literally the End of the World with fantastic views over the ocean & the Sein Island.
- A few mins away from the Pointe du Raz, we recommend the stunning and quieter Pointe du Van. The Coastal Path along the steep cliffs lead you to a beautiful chapel (Sainte They), past an exposed fisherman cove and to a wild surfer beach.
- 5min walk from the ferry to the Sein Island. 8 miles away from the Pointe du Raz, this tiny island is barely more than a line in the ocean 1 mile long and only 6m above the water at its highest point. 250 people live there full time . A great day out.
- Audierne is a working fishing harbour with amazing seafood. It is famous in France for its seabass caught by line in the treacherous waters. Local fishermen also catch plenty of crabs, lobsters and langoustines which you can buy at the Saturday market.
- A great place for watersports. The sea is at the end of the garden and the reef is ideal for fishing, spear fishing, catching spider crabs. The sailing school on the main beach is a 5min walk, the surfing & kayaking school a short drive away.
- The Lervily Point and the Ile aux Vaches just outside the house are 2 of the best surfing/windsurfing spots in Brittany. On big winter swells, waves reach 6m and all the best congregate for epic sessions. You can watch the show straight from the lounge!
