On fine mornings, Sophie serves breakfast at tables in the sun: breads, jams, fresh orange juice, homemade crepes and Far Breton flans. Set off for the lovely old port of Vannes (40 mins) for ferries to the glassy Gulf of Morbihan and its 30 green islands. Or follow the well-signed track that runs across the dunes and wetlands of Suscinio, from the castle of the Ducs de Bretagne to the wild Atlantic. Avocets, egrets, and white storks abound.
For small restaurants, galleries and shops, pop into the much-loved village of Rochefort-en-Terre, 2km. An adventure park and a gentle watersports lake are five minutes further. And if you're wishing you could come with friends, you can: four spacious gites await by the pool.
