Bump down the rough track and stretching out before you is the glorious rocky coastline and the steep peaks of the Corsican mountains - at night the lights of far off villages twinkle in the distance. It's blissfully rural and you'll spend all your time outdoors either bubbling in the jacuzzi, enjoying the lush garden or exploring the island.
There are three suites in the house, all with their own sitting rooms and terraces, and a huge bed open to the skies on a private terrace, with its own safari tent to duck into in case it rains (a rare event).
Isabelle, your host, is a fantastic cook. Meals are either eaten on the terrace overlooking the garden with other guests or in your room if you prefer. Breakfast is a generous spread: juices, breads, local ham and cheese, homemade pastries and supper is a three-course gourmet affair. A 20-minute walk takes you to the coast where you'll find a sandy cove for swimming and sun bathing.
