This listed textiles mill, built in 1739 on the edge of Montolieu, has been exquisitely revived and divided up into apartments. Spread over three floors, with a high-ceilinged dining hall and a vaulted cellar bar, each is spacious, airy and light. The Dutch owners have imbued it with a brave new spirit, and each one feels like home.
The river teems with wildlife and the area with wineries. Take off with a packed lunch of delicious local produce from Marieke; return to a massage in the spa; browse the little on site shop. Wander the steep streets of the medieval village... best known for its 16 bookshops.
