This grand old house has been gorgeously furnished with no expense spared, yet has a comfortable and homely feel. It's gloriously peaceful too, surrounded by 25 acres of gardens sometimes visited by deer and wild boar, and looks out onto vineyards, fields of sunflowers and woods.
There's plenty of room for different generations to spread out: eat together around the large table on the terrace overlooking the pool, gather in the party barn and games room with a fabulous sweeping staircase up to a TV room, play tennis, boules or croquet.
The pretty village of Montréal is a five-minute drive and has a small supermarket as well as two good restaurants and a pizzeria. There are local markets for most days of the week and you can visit nearby estates offering wine and Armagnac tastings. There's also an impressive Roman villa in Seviac, 15 minutes away.
