Gaillac vineyards surround this old wine master’s house - the definition of relaxed French country chic, with a decorative smattering of foreign pieces. Florence and Olivier are delightfully attentive and want you to love this rich, rural area as much as they do. Calm rooms charm with church views, high, beamed ceilings, stone and light-painted walls, linen cushions and canopies. Breakfasts – dinners too in summer – are memorable, out under the rambling vine shelters. And it’s simply lovely, after a spin on a bike, to plunge into the sparkling pool to gentle cooing from the pigeonnier. Cordes is close.
