A lovely, sunlit house with plenty of room for everybody – find three separate seating areas, one outside, a formal sitting room and an open-plan kitchen/dining/living room with doors to the garden. With a dining table for 10 and rattan sofas, this is a great spot for entertaining too. There are two barbecues – a charcoal Weber plus a big gas one – lawns spacious enough to play football on, hammocks, an ancient oak tree, and a pool to cool off in surrounded by loungers. You'll spend most of your time in the garden and you'll find outdoor games waiting.
For those few chilly days you can light a fire and settle with a good book or cook up a storm in the top-notch kitchen with a welcome basket and plenty of basics to get you started. Bedrooms, one with an en suite on the ground floor, are a good size with storage space and pretty views; bathrooms are sparkling.
The village is a simple one with a bakery and a small supermarket.

- The local village of Loulay (4 mins by car) offers a choice of two bread shops, a small Friday market and a stall with fresh oysters every Sunday morning in the market square.
- Within an easy 35-minute drive to the coast, fabulous days can be spent on the beach on the Île d'Oléron, Royan, and the famous Île de Ré. Or just spend the day by the pool, or playing table tennis, croquet, badminton, boules or rounders at home!
- The medieval market town of St Jean D'Angely is an easy 9-minute drive away. It offers a wide selection of bars and restaurants and twice weekly a market with local produce, fish and seafood.
