You're greeted with kindness and maybe a glass of the owners' 'Big Easy' wine, made by Ernie Els the famous golf player and distributed in France thanks to Jean-Baptiste. Bedrooms have fluffy bedding, thick pillows and seductive lighting - they're cosy, comforting, warm and intimate. If the weather keeps you indoors you can sit in an armchair with a book, nip down to the bar for a snifter, or over to the kitchen to chat while the cooking goes on.
Breakfast is a performance! Wood-burner lit, lamps glowing and a table groaning with bread, brioche, croissants and fresh cheeses from the nearby farm. Everything is locally sourced and organic so it's worth having supper too and finding out Jean-Baptiste's interesting history. If you want to 'do for yourselves' there's a good kitchen and space for several cooks.
A large sloping garden has a smooth lawn, bird-filled mature trees and utter peace. Sit on the terrace and admire the views.
