Benoit’s carefully restored 1903 villa is three minutes’ walk from the famous beach of La Baule, at the peaceful end of the bay. Its swimming pool takes up most of the palm-fringed courtyard and its rooms – ground floor Les Pins, the biggest - are classy in an old-meets-new way: bold modern wallpaper, polished, original floorboards, local art. Bathrooms are generous, and striking – one’s very New York 20s, another is lined with huge marble tiles. Breakfast jams and cakes are a homemade treat in the conservatory; the salon has an open fire, books, games, hot drinks. Your charming host, passionate about La Baule, will guide you.
