Immerse yourselves in what was an old shepherd's hut and is now a cosy place to escape with plenty of beams, whitewashed or exposed stone walls, pretty fabrics and an open plan living room and kitchen. The table overlooks the views and you'll be welcomed by a bottle of local wine, or a freshly baked cake depending on the season. On balmy days you can eat outdoors on the terrace or cool off in the small pool.
There's only one other house opposite, apart from that you're on your own with nature. It's a 40-minute walk from town, although there are shops and a hotel which serves food 4kms away in Santa Lucia. The owners can help you with car or scooter hire, or if you come by train they can collect you from the station.
Bring binoculars for honing in on the views and the many birds and wildlife you'll spot - maybe even a wild boar. Workaholics will find a desk on the mezzanine and an extra single bed. Enjoy stargazing at night.
