All around are the soaring, craggy Dolomites – feel soothed on arrival. Manfred and Sonja will be delighted to see you and eager to do all they can to please.
Though the building is young, it is a faithful reproduction of a 16th-century manor and blends in beautifully with the pretty village of Cortaccia (known as ‘Kurtatsch’ by the locals). Light roomy bedrooms, alpine-cosy with lots of pine have blissful views to vineyards, orchards and mountains; each has a loggia, a balcony or access to the garden.
This was Austria - the area turned Italian in 1919 - and the family restaurant opposite is a fascinating example of German Renaissance architecture. Gather there after a day hiking to enjoy the Italian and South Tyrolean dishes and a well-stocked bar.
Take a trip to Bolzano or Merano, sup your way around a wine tour, rent bikes, play golf – there are three courses nearby. Return to the sauna, steam room and lovely pool.

- Located about 1 km in the south of Cortaccia along the Wine Road, there is the small but mighty village of Niclara. Even if it only boasts a humble number of inhabitants of about 150, the village is characterised by a vivid history, as it was once the seat of the court.
- Penone belongs to the municipality of Cortaccia and is a panoramically picturesque village at an altitude of 550 m a.s.l. The village includes both of farms and residential buildings and is surrounded by vineyards, fruit orchards, forests and meadows.
- Favogna di Sotto and Favogna di Sopra are the two villages that make up the Favogna high plateau. In fact, Favogna di Sotto belongs to the municipality of Magré, while Favogna di Sopra makes part of Cortaccia.
- Underneath the hill of Niclara there is Castel Turmhof, a residence owned by the Tiefenbrunner family, where also the homonymous cellar is located.
- If you love walking, we recommend you to hike along the wine educational trail going past Niclara. A fascinating natural phenomenon is the so called “Regenstein” (rain rock), a huge trass from which water comes out.
