A restful, almost spiritual calm emanates from this wonderful home. In a medieval hamlet, the locanda has all the beams and antique tiles you could wish for. Light, airy rooms with pale limewashed walls are a perfect foil for the exquisite reclaimed doors and carved hardwood furniture from Bali and Indonesia; your charming hosts have picked up some fabulous pieces from far-off places and have given the house a colonial feel.
Each bedroom is different and bathrooms are gorgeous, with deep baths and walk-in, glass-doored showers. The pool is spectacular, like a mirage clinging to the side of the hill; and there's a huge lime tree. Breakfast is big with home-baked breads and cakes, homemade jams, salamis, cheeses, eggs to order. You can have a surprise dish at lunch and a 4-course tasting menu in the evening.
Spend your days relaxing in the wellness areas or sunbathing by the pool, although the walks are spectacular.
