The Stable Cottage - Self-catering in Argyll & Bute
Pennymore by Furnace, PA32 8XN, Argyll & Bute
Scotland,
Reino Unido
You're in a tiny hamlet just one field away from the shores of Loch Fyne and surrounded by wildlife: watch out for deer, red squirrels, seals, dolphins and osprey. Nip down to the little beach of rock and shale for a bracing swim or to launch your canoe or paddle board and bring binoculars for a myriad of sea birds at low tide.
The living room is upstairs to make the most of the views and there's a proper wicker hamper full of delicious local stuff - Loch Fyne ales, a bottle of wine and sausages, bacon, eggs and bread for your first breakfast. You'll also find the 'ready steady cook' cupboard full of dried and tinned goods for a supper if you arrive late. Then there's the drinks bar - just replace what you finish.
Wild weather days are for staying by the wood-burning stove and watching the unfolding drama of sky and sea through many windows. You'll feel very close to nature and a million miles from everyday cares.

- Stable Cottage is just a short walk across a meadow from Pennymore Point and the beautiful shoreline of Loch Fyne, perfect for soaking in the breathtaking scenery of Argyll and taking a wild swim dip or paddle boarding in the calm waters.
- Along the way you may even catch sight of seals, dolphins, eagles, numerous sea birds, deer and red squirrels, as the hamlet of Pennymore is also surrounded by the 3000 acre Forest of Kenmore which hosts numerous fantastic bike trails and forest walks.
- The settlement of Pennymore is steeped in history, with records showing ownership by the MacIver family as far back as 1479, and later owners and visitors include the Duke of Argyll, Waterloo veteran Major Donald Campbell and even Queen Victoria!
- Stable Cottage is just a 10 minute drive from the historic Argyll coastal town of Inveraray, where you'll find pubs, cafes and restaurants, including the characterful George Hotel, the Brambles tea-room and the acclaimed Samphire Seafood Restaurant.
- Attractions close by include Inveraray Castle & Gardens (as featured in Downtown Abbey), Inveraray Jail, Loch Fyne Ales Brewery, the ancient Achindrain Township, the Adrkinglas Woodland, which houses the UK’s tallest tree, and the beautiful Crarae Gardens.
- The cottage is the perfect base to explore the west coast of Scotland with day trips taking you south to the wonderful Kintyre Peninsula (a trip to the beautiful Isle of Gigha a MUST!) and then north to the majestic beauty of Glencoe and the Inner Hebrides
