Four miniature apartments inside three hobbit like original trulli - so many are reproductions but these are the real thing. Each has a little kitchen with table, cooker for light meals, organic olive oil and seasonal vegetables and fruit from the gardens. A double bed hides behind curtains and a single sits in an alcove, light comes from high up windows and the entrance door - you'll feel cosy but they're built to keep out the extreme heat in July and August.
Most of the time you'll be outdoors. The gardens are a riot of pines, cypress, olive, herbs, roses and a fruit orchard. You breakfast in the veranda with a beamed roof and open sides: coffee cakes, tarts, fresh breads and jams, local stracchino or pecorino cheese, fruits in season. Sign up for a cookery class and learn to make orecchiette and foccaccia.
A five-minute walk takes you to Pizzeria Arboris Belli, or head to Alberobello (2.5kms) the heart of trullo territory.
