The Mount - Self-catering house in Cumbria
Portinscale, Keswick, CA12 5RD, Cumbria
England,
Reino Unido
Come here for an escape in the school holidays and have the whole place to yourselves. It's let as a B&B the rest of the time and is an easy-living, friendly home for all ages; there's space for two families, or extra friends can come along.
Spread over three floors with even more wowser views the higher you go, you'll find a cosy sitting room with views of the lake, open fire and interesting paintings that the owners have collected over the years. The kitchen has an Aga as well as a conventional oven and nice things left for you: coffee roasted in Kendal, locally made jam and cake made by Clive.
Meals can be eaten in the pretty garden or in the arty dining room. Decide which mountain you are going to tackle - there are lots of maps and guidebooks in the house. Walk down to the marina for lots of fun.
