You’re only 21 miles from Scotland in this harbour town with a lighthouse and you stay in a beautifully restored Georgian building. All the best architectural bits are retained but now there’s a swish Soho-house feel: muted colours, the softest blankets, espresso machines, a fridge for bubbly and a lovely fire in the breakfast room.
Arrive to a homemade treat. Karen is a gracious host and gives you breakfasts of homemade bircher muesli, avocado on sourdough or classic bacon and eggs. She’ll also help you plan your days. Venture out to good shops and much history – you may spot the local ‘chunky dunkers’ wild swimming group taking a swim opposite.
Join the coast path on foot or by bike, take a boat trip to the Copeland Islands for bird watching and jazz picnics in summer. There are great places to eat a stroll away - try The Harbour & Co, The Lighthouse Bar & Grill or Bull and Claw. You can also visit one of Ireland’s oldest pubs, Grace Neill’s, dating back to 1611.
