Llys Meddyg - Hotel in Pembrokeshire
East Street, Newport, SA42 0SY, Pembrokeshire
Wales,
Reino Unido
This beautiful small hotel has a little bit of everything: chic bedrooms that pack a punch, a cellar bar for cocktails before dinner, a stylish restaurant for delicious local food. In summer you decant into the garden, where a café/bistro opens up for coffee and cake or pizza from a wood-fired oven. There’s a smokehouse out here, too, then a yurt tucked away around the corner that comes with a wood-burner and a hot tub. It’s an intimate place, where staff stop to chat, locals pop in for a coffee, and you can take home a jar of quince jelly made by Ed’s mum. Food lies at the heart of the affair and you eat in a stylish restaurant with Welsh art on the walls, perhaps home-smoked salmon, slow-cook lamb, caramelised pear with blue-cheese ice cream. Beautiful bedrooms are scattered about. Those in the main house have cool colours, vast beds and fancy bathrooms. Those in the mews have a rustic feel and garden views; all have fluffy bath robes. Pembrokeshire's coastal path waits for windswept cliffs and sandy beaches. Don't miss St Davids or the Preseli Hills. Dogs are very welcome.

Louise & Edward Sykes:
- Walk at least one of the stretches of the Pembrokeshire Coast path from Llys Meddyg doorstep. The path was recently voted by National Geographic magazine as the 2nd best path in the World! We particularly love the path in May carpeted with spring flowers.
- If that sounds too strenuous then there are plenty of sandy beaches and sheltered coves to explore.
- Newport is a delightful small town to explore with independent boutiques, galleries and eateries.
- Families will enjoy crabbing from the parrog, rock pooling and exploring the different areas of the beach. Within a short distance is Castell Henrys for re-enactments of Iron Age living.
- Try one of the many water sports or outdoor activities on offer in the area: horse riding on the beach, coasteering, surfing, kayaking, to name but a few.
- Llys Meddyg is a great base for exploring other gems in the Pembrokeshire National Park: St. Davids and Tenby are a great day out!
