Beaux Souvenirs - Self-catering cottage in Dordogne
2 Rue des Grives, 24450 Mialet, Dordogne
Aquitaine,
Francia
Relax on the patio enclosed by high hedges and shaded by trees. You can bask by the pool, lunch on the terrace and have a barbecue in the evening with provisions from the good local boucherie. You stay in the gîte adjacent to the 19th-century coach-house, recently revived by William and Vanessa.
Inside feels warm, convivial and cosy - an open-plan design for plenty of space and with huge rustic beams overhead. Take a tour of Vanessa's wonderful vintage fashion collection in the little museum; stroll down to the village and its lovely square for shops, a bar and boulangerie.
This is the northern reach of the Dordogne, the aptly named Perigord Vert, with a verdant landscape of forests, valleys and hills. Stock up at Piégut-Pluviers market (26km), discover prehistoric cave paintings at the Grotte de Villars (19km) and visit the Château de Jumilhac and its gardens (18km), topped with turrets and towers.
