Up the hill, along the winding track, through the olive and almond groves to a splendid old house in generous grounds with long views across the valley. Inside you'll find beamed ceilings, good art and sculptures and masses of space. A large open plan living and dining room has a stone fireplace (logs provided) and the table will be set for when you arrive: a welcome hamper has local hams, cheeses, bread and bottles of wine.
Bedrooms (three on the ground floor, two under the eaves) are roomy with lovely linen and antiques. Cooking together is easy with a warming Aga and a wooden table for prepping - or you can hire a private chef. Above here there's a mezzanine, perfect for teenagers, with a sofa, smart TV and twin bedroom with bathroom.
The garden wraps around the house so you can follow (or hide from) the sun. Organise yoga and Tai chi sessions out here, or Shiatsu massages; the new yoga shala overlooks olive groves. Enjoy evenings under the covered dining area with barbecue and table tennis.
