An exotic oasis that welcoming Sally has spent years creating – the guest book extols its virtues. It's top-drawer 'Santa Fe' – all chunky beams and tree trunk shelves. Relax in the lushly tropical grounds, enjoy a beauty treatment or a massage under one of the gazebos, then jump into the pool with its tropical waterfall, overlooked by a Buddha and night-glittery trees.
The honesty bar on the top terrace is a great place to meet other guests – and locals too, who pop in for a sundowner. Three bedrooms are in the main house and one, beside the pool, is delightfully Mexican in style. Nearby Burgau, with its bars and restaurants, has kept something of its old fishing village character. But you may not want to go out when there's a fabulous barbecue kitchen in the grounds for guests and you can stock your own fridge.
Breakfast on cold meats, cheeses, fresh bread or full English (order ahead). Guests often return, it's a fun place.
