This old farmhouse, with stunning views as far as the snow-capped Sierra Nevada, sits atop a hill amidst the olive belt that stretches across half of Andalucía. If you like little-known corners of Spain, stay here and use it as a launch pad for your visit to the glories of Granada and Córdoba, the famous beaches of the Costa del Sol, and Málaga, whose charming Old Town is often passed by. It's a favourite with our readers and no surprise: owners Patriek and Bernadette have backgrounds in gastronomy and tourism and run a delightful small hotel. The renovation feels new yet the 'rustic' air of a 250-year-old Andalucían cortijo has been beautifully and lovingly preserved. Find restored old country pieces, rough-rendered walls, beamed bedrooms, wrought-iron bedsteads and spotless bath and shower rooms. The sitting room and dining room are cosy as can be with log-burning stoves, and in summer you spill into the flower-filled white-walled courtyard. It is quiet, remote, friendly... and there's no need to eat out when you can enjoy superb dinners here: Patriek is a maestro in the kitchen.

- Though it seems that La Haza is located in the middle of nowhere (amongst the olive groves), it is easily the most centrally-located B&B in the area. Very useful for visits to the triangle of Málaga, Córdoba and Granada (also Ronda and even Seville).
- It's a nature-lovers' paradise here, walks around the area, with stunning views, but also lots of wildlife, including hoopoe, azure-winged magpie, bee-eaters, vultures and the very rare Montague Harriers
- Being on Sawdays means you stand out as it is. But why would anyone pick La Haza over the other "special" places in the area? Simply because our place has a soul. It stands out in everything, the place, the food, the care taken, come and see for yourselves
- Many, many people with food allergies, etc. have commented how they feel so special at La Haza. Generally in a restaurant you can only get what is on the menu, whereas we prepare something from fresh with your wishes in mind

"Had a wonderful two days earlier this week at La Haza.
Bernadette and Patriek are wonderful hosts and couldn't be more helpful with suggestions of where to visit and how to get there.
Patriek's cooking is amazing - it is like having your own personal chef- ask him about his chocolate mousse!
It is a great location for visiting the Granada / Córdoba area, but equally if you just want complete peace and quiet you can sit by the pool and look across the olive groves to the snow capped Sierra Nevada mountains.
Intimate and cosy we both recommend La Haza highly."

"Just back from a wonderful week at La Haza. Bernadette and Patriek could not have been more hospitable. La Haza is brilliantly placed for visiting the sites of Classical Spain (and we did!), and it was wonderful to return each evening to Patriek's fantastic cooking. Bernadette took all the hassle out of each day-trip with advice on where to park, where to eat, providing local maps etc. Our room was comfortable & spotless. Lovely to wake up to the sunrise over the far distant snow-capped Sierra Nevada & hear the birds singing. But it is our hosts' kindness & hospitality that will stay with us."

With such a warm and genuine welcome, spectacular vistas, spacious and well furnished and blissfully cool rooms, delightful gardens with a variety of quiet spots in which to siesta and some of the best food we've ever had, there could be nowhere better for R&R. It's also perfectly placed to visit the cities of Seville, Granada, Cordoba and Malaga, as well as the charming and historic nearby town. Patriek and Bernadette are exceeding accomodating and knowledgable hosts. Our entire visit was sublime."

"Having read other visitors' comments there is little to add except to say they are all true.We have stayed in many places all over Andalucia but love to come back to Cortijo La Haza as it feels like visiting old friends.Patriek and Bernadette are warm and charming hosts,who will do everything possible to make your stay with them absolutely perfect(and we have to say,the food is sublime!)Whether you want to use it as a base for visiting Cordoba,Granada,and some of the lesser known towns of the region,or simply to lie by the pool and relax,it is the ideal spot to choose and very easy to get to from Malaga airport if you follow their website instructions.
We will definitely return once we have shed the pounds from our last visit!

"We had a lovely restful stay at Cortijo La Haza and a wonderful warm welcome from Bernadette and Patriek. Deaspite the fact it rained solidly for our two day stay, we could see that it would be an even better stay if the sun had shone - the pool area and outside seating areas looked great - we will definitely return to hopefully experience a completely different holiday in the sun.
As it was we relaxed in the homely surroundings and read sitting in rocking chairs by the wood burning stove, played cards and scrabble and chatted with the guests and owners. We finished both days with a delicious 3 course meal, cooked by Patriek and then retired to our very comfortable room complete with private terrace with it's own table and chairs - but which due to the weather we were unable to take advantage of.
So even if the sun doesn't shine for you this is a relaxing place to stay and to plan your visits to Granada and Cordoba - both of which are in easy driving distance."

"In spite of unseasonal weather, we had a very good stay here in April. Set amidst olive groves which make ideal local walks (with or without a dog), the Cortijo is almost half way between Granada and Cordoba and ideal for visiting both, as well as the Moorish castles and hilltop villages which abound in the region. We had a warm welcome, masses of help in planning day trips, comfortable room with the added bonus of a cup of tea and a wood burning stove after a cold day - and last but definitely not least, fabulous food."

"We spent 5 days at Cortijo La Haza under the hospitality of Bernadette and Patrick. From there we visited Granada and Cordoba with the guidance of Bernadette who was very knowledgeable regarding directions, where to park and the best places for Tapas.
We returned each evening to a welcoming 3 course meal cooked by Patriek whose passion for cooking showed in the food he cooked for us.
The B & B was spotlessly clean in beautiful, peaceful surroundings.
The attentiveness shown to us by both Bernadette and Patrick made our holiday very special. We would certainly have no hesitation in recommending Cortijo La Haza for a short break or a longer relaxing holiday."

"Absolutely fantastic! We stayed at La Haza for a week in Feb 2012. It was a great holiday. Bernadette and Patriek are wonderful hosts, they looked after us as if we kings, food was fabulous a different gourmet dinner each evening after we sat by the log burning stove sipping wine and beer and sherry having a chat about our adventures of the day and Bernadette giving us more recommendations for the next day. Each morning we had a great breakfast and Bernadette had printed off directions and lunch stops for the day. A great place to stay if you want to explore Andalucia we travelled to Cordoba and Granada easily. The Cortijo is very comfortable indeed and Bernadette and Patriek are very friendly and welcoming, we loved it and looking forward to returning one day. 5 stars all round thank you!"

"This is a gem of a place, well off the beaten track (which we like!), yet, if you're so inclined, it is little more than an hour away from Malaga (airport), Cordoba, Seville and Granada. However, it's also very tempting to stay in the locality, or even in the grounds of this small cortijo - it's so relaxing. Owners Patriek and Bernadette were attentive and helpful hosts... nothing seemed too much trouble for them. We stayed there for 5 nights in September, when the evenings were beginning to cool, though it was still warm enough to dine outside in a very pleasant environment (pleasant to dine inside too!). We dined there on 4 occasions (set 3-course menu) and I can honestly say that not a single course of any meal disappointed. Patriek is a wonderful cook and Bernadette couldn't have made our stay more relaxing or comfortable. A very enjoyable break and we'll definitely return!
