At the end of the winding road are three cottages in a fabulous olive grove near the largest man-made lake in Andalusia. Water levels fluctuate and when it’s empty you can spot old buildings. Snug, simple and individual, each cottage has a private entrance and a courtyard; cheek by jowl, they interlink beautifully for larger groups. One is open-plan and flooded with light, another has old low ceilings and an inglenook feel; Perdiz and Liebre (our favourites) sport Moorish sofas. All are charming inside: terracotta tiles, white walls, bright fabrics, spotless bathrooms.
Stock up at traditional village shops from a bygone era and come back to fire up the barbecue or whip up a meal in the well-equipped kitchens. Bask on a lounger by the pool and relish the views, or play pétanque on the sand court. No neighbours detract from the peace.
The nearest village, Fuentes de Cesna, is about 5 minutes by car or a short walk.

They contributed invaluable information about the locale and the outstanding places one wants visit in Andalusia, while being discrete. "We have had a wonderful holiday in a beautiful location, everything thought about to make it home from home down to minute details , very well appointed comfortable apartments . Although rural very easy to get to lots of interesting places.
Gillian and Mary Lynne were very helpful on local information including routes, parking and places to eat.
The pool and garden surroundings were lovely and well maintained, very peaceful and tranquil. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay,thank you.

"We had fantastic stay at Las Rosas in casita Perdiz. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so very welcome. The casita was beautiful, with great attention to detail, and with everything we could possibly need. Our children, 17 and 11, loved it all, as did we...the peace and tranquility, the lovely pool with spectacular views, the outdoor dining and the wealth of games and inflatables available! Gillian and Marylynne were incredibly helpful, and have an indepth knowledge of the everywhere there is to go for a great day out. Las Rosas is a very special place to stay, and hard to beat."

"What a super place! Hidden away amongst the olive groves, a tranquil spot, lovely pool, well equipped & maintained casitas. Our hosts were charming and provide you with so much information about the local area you can really make the most of your holiday and do as much or as little (it was very hot!) as you want. "We loved everything about this place, the peace, tranquillity and the setting. The facilities were excellent, nothing missing every need catered for. The house/apartment was clean and extremely well looked as well as being the best equipped we have ever stayed in. Marylynn & Gillian were around with lots of advice and information if you needed it but kept their distance otherwise. You need a car but the drive up the hill from Iznajar is worth it not just for the views but the welcome you receive and a stay at Cortijo Las Rosas. "

"Sometimes, you need to be forced to relax : and this place does that perfectly. A welcome pack means you don't have to worry about racing to stock up. Instead, you can slip on the flip-flops as soon as you arrive. You will need a car for the roller-coaster ride to your home in the hills, and for trips to local markets and villages, and your charming hostesses will help you choose where to go, when to go, and how to get there. Our week here was blissful."

"What a fabulous place! I spent a week here relaxing in the mountains. My Cassita was very comfortable and well equipped and nothing was too much trouble for Mary Lynn and Gillian. Great hospitality. The drive up isn't for the fainted hearted but stunning scenery and great fun once you've done it the first time. Felt like being in a James Bond film!!! I visited the stunning gardens in the Alhambra in Granada and discovered the ancient streets and open patios in Cordoba. Definitely worth another visit."

"Gillian and Marylynne’s Cortijo las Rosas near Iznajar is a real gem! I found this peaceful retreat quite by chance, lucky me! I really needed a rest and this place was perfect place to settle down, rest my brain and breath fresh air. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I arrived at their house. Once I unpacked, saw the pool and the olive trees, smell the jasmine which climbs the wall of the casita, I knew I did not want to leave. Minutes after my arrival, I extended my stay for 2 more nights. I would give a zillion stars. The hosts are brilliant, the site is magical, the environment a delight!"

"We spent a great week at Cortijo las Rosas in Casita Galgo. The location is stunning and the perfect place to relax and unwind. The pool is lovely with beautiful views across the valley. The casita, with its gorgeous courtyard, was extremely well equipped and very clean.
Gillian and Marylynne manage to be very discrete, giving you privacy to enjoy your holiday, but at the same time are always around should you need them. They made us feel very welcome.
The location is ideal to explore the area and we had many day trips as well as a few days relaxing by the pool.

"We enjoyed 2 weeks at Casita Perdiz the accommodation and hospitality of the owners Gillian, Marylynn and Steve was exceptional. Cortijo Las Rosas is an ideal base to explore this region of Andalucia. We particularly enjoyed relaxing by the pool and admiring the views across the valley. The owners were always on hand to offer advice on the area such as where to eat, what shops were available and how to get there. "Our stay at Las Rosas was magical! Our hosts couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating, especially with our children ages 11 and 7! For them the pool and outside dining area, complete with inflatables and boardgames, was the highlight of their holiday, along with the resident dogs, Lulu and Snookie! Gillian and Marylynne have lovingly created a picturesque landscaped outside area, with amazing views of the valley , you could easily spend everyday by the pool! The casitas are beautifully furnished and well equipped….this tranquil haven is a wonderful base to explore Southern Spain! "

"Gillian and Marylynne are the perfect hosts for a perfect holiday in rural Andalusia. Located in the middle of a million olive trees sits Cortija las Rosas a beautifully restored farm house with 3 wonderfully decorated and equipped casitas. Get ready for a wonderful place to relax and immerse oneself in Andalusian hospitality in this spectacular location. The three casitas are immaculately clean and are surrounded by colourful Geraniums, Lavender, Jasmin and kitchen herbs that are available to the guests for preparing their meals. We would recommend this to anyone with a 5 star rating! "

"If lavender, flowering geraniums, whitewashed stone walls in a valley of olives are quintessential images of rural Andalusia then the beautifully restored farmhouse of Cortijo Las Rosas will not disappoint. We stayed in the beautiful two bedroom Casa Liebre and, if it not for the desire to see other nearby parts of southern Spain, we may not have ventured too far from the courtyard, pool and petanque court! The plethora of pool related equipment and board games was of additional delight to our two children who felt most at home. Highly recommended. Great day trips to Ronda, Cordoba & Granada."

"Ten wonderous days at the Cortijo las Rosas in the Perez Casita was a highlight of our 7 week tour of Europe. Sitting high up in the olive groves of Andalucia, it is a perfect home base to explore Granada, Malaga, Antequera, Rhonda and all the small villages along the way, and still enjoy rest days by the pool.
The Casita was beautifully decorated and very well supplied. I highly recommend the plentiful Welcome package, very well done.
Marylyne and Gillian are caring hostesses with great information on the area, always very helpful.
We highly recommend a stay here.

"Cortijo Las Rosas provided us with a comfortable, peaceful and very scenic base for us to explore beautiful Andalusia. The traditional Casa Liebre was beautifully furnished and extremely well stocked, set in well cared for geranium and lavender filled gardens. We visited Granada, Cordoba, Priego de Cordoba and Antequera. Every afternoon was spent splashing around in the fabulous pool and we spent the evenings walking around the olive groves, exploring local towns and barbecuing in our courtyard. We had a very happy stay here. "

"Past the lake, through olive groves, down the track and....there is Cortijo las Rosas in splendid isolation.
Very nicely restored as traditional 'casitas' with a fig tree and lots of herbs and lavender.
We really appreciated the warm welcome of Marylynne and Gillian. Their advices, humor and ofcourse the lovely Welcome Pack. They were very generous, thoughtful and helpfull hosts.
A relaxing and peaceful two weeks and a perfect location for sightseeing Granada, Cordoba and Seville."

"Cortojo Las Rosas was a treasure of a find. Gilly and Maryanne were great hosts. This was our first holiday with our baby and they catered for our every need including lighting our log fire! The accommodation was full of character and comfort. The views of the Andalucian hills were breathtaking. Great location for some peace but also for good day trips to Granada and Cordoba to name a few. We look forward to returning one day soon!"

"We stayed at Las Rosas needing relaxation and interesting places to visit. We found everything we hoped for and so much more. Gillian and Marylynne are wonderful hosts, providing everything you might need, a wealth of information and advice on food, restaurants and excursions. They are there when you need them (and car trouble proved this) but make sure that guests have all the privacy desired. Our apartment was superb, the other facilities too. We loved our time here and we will be returning. "

"We've just spent a lovely week at Cortijo las Rosas. (Children aged 9 and 12)Escaping from a long English winter it was wonderful to bask in the sunshine by the beautiful pool with fantastic views of olive trees on the hillsides. This is a lovely house, in a stunning location. Gillian and Marylynne are great hosts, knowledgeable about where to go and how to get there. I would recommend their welcome pack. They've taken a great deal of care over the properties and the gardens around them. The atmosphere was very relaxing, we did get to the Alhambra and Cordoba but we were also very happy to laze by the pool and read and play cards. This is the first place I've heard a Nightingale sing! Enjoy!!"
