Cheyne Cottage - Self-catering in Devon
Broadhempston, TQ9 6BD, Devon
England,
Royaume-Uni
Couples with or without children will be comfortable here – cosy with a wood-burner in winter, outside in the colourful garden on sunny days. Thoughtful owners have provided everything you’ll need – the kitchen is impressive, with espresso machine, and you get slippers and White Company robes, towels and bed linen.
Bridlepaths criss-cross the surrounding countryside; go riding from a stables ten minutes away or be walking on Dartmoor in 15. Helpful local property manager Nicki is on the end of the phone if you need anything.
This is a foodie area and there are plenty of up-to-date recommendations - from the village pubs to trendy Totnes restaurants. For a family day on the beach it’s a forty-minute drive to Bantham or Blackpool Sands on the south Devon coast.

- Broadhempston is between the South Hams and Dartmoor, both recognised as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Enjoy stunning coastlines, breathtaking countryside, quaint villages & vibrant market towns from this tranquil village, away from the crowds.
- In nearby Staverton travel by steam train along the River Dart between Buckfastleigh and Totnes, Sunday Lunch & Afternoon Tea available on board! Trail the river on foot by Buckfast Abbey or enjoy dinner by the riverside at The Maltsters Arms in Tuckenhay.
- On Dartmoor visit moorland towns Ashburton, Buckfastleigh and Chagford, hike to Hay Tor, enjoy woodland and waterfalls at Canonteign Falls & Lydford Gorge. With horse riding, water sports, bike trails & butterflies parks it's a nature lovers paradise.
- Take a scenic drive to South Hams beaches and South West Coastal Path. We love Bantham, Hope Cove & South Milton Sands. Venus Cafes serve organic local produce at Blackpool Sands & Bigbury on Sea. From Bigbury beach take the sea tractor to Burgh Island.
- Totnes boasts a castle, markets & indie shops, also boat trips to Dartmouth. Visit Sharpham Vineyard or explore Dartington Hall Estate, Deer Park and shops, check out their program of events & festivals. We recommend day trips to Dartmouth & Salcombe too.
- Children will love the choice of animal farms, adventure parks and visiting Paignton Zoo. At the end of your day pick up organic treats at Ben's Farm Shop, or enjoy the many foodie pubs & restaurants, a list of recommendations awaits you at the cottage.
