With two sitting rooms, six bedrooms and five bathrooms these two lovely places are just the ticket for getting together with friends or family. Both main house and adjoining cottage have a homely, comfortable feel with antique furniture, books and games for rainy days, pretty fabrics on sofas, nothing too modern. The cottage kitchen is perfectly well kitted-out but the main house kitchen is ample for everyone to cook together and eat – doors open to the patio for outdoor meals.
You're surrounded by three acres of wild gardens and the river Piddle running through it for paddling, making dams, charging about in wellies and generally letting off steam safely. Bedrooms are a mix of doubles and singles – one with a pull-out bed – and one of the bathrooms is a tad old-fashioned but this is a house and cottage to share with people you know well and who will enjoy the higgledy-piggledy layout.
Walk onto the Wessex Ridgeway for views.
