Pennine farmhouse with snug bedrooms, good food and gracious hosts. You’re deep into Calderdale here, a much underrated neck of the woods

It feels wonderfully remote on this hillside - 900 feet high, so there's weather but the views are fabulous. Great walking territory, including from the door, and wildlife thrives - spot curlews, owls, roe deer, redwings, dippers and mistle thrushes.

Sit by the open fire in winter, retire to a comfy brass bed topped with antique linen. Judith loves cooking, so you'll have homemade bread, marmalade and granola, coddled eggs, full cooked with all the local trimmings. Dinners too, perhaps lamb shanks with potato cakes and spinach - just the thing for walkers who’ve trekked the Calderdale or Pennine Way.

The garden has masses of roses, a hammock to snooze in... Those long views over hill and moor promote stillness and peace - booking one of Judith's Reiki therapies will complete your break from the bustle.
